Having worked for the NHS for 5 years, and independently for a further 7 years, I have established a private Speech and Language Therapy service which retains at its heart the needs of my clients. Initial assessments usually take place in my Ayrshire clinic. In addition to standard speech and language assessments, I can assess more specialised skills where appropriate. This may include an assessment of the way the jaw or tongue are moving (see Talk Tools link to the left), or the way the ear is processing what it hears (see Listening Program link to the left - under construction Feb 2011; please contact me on enquiries@privatespeechtherapy.org.uk for information). Therapy sessions are delivered in clinic with work to be completed at home between sessions. Therapy programs with clear aims are drawn up based on the assessment results, and data is collected during each session which demonstrate the progress being made every step of the way. As a dedicated parent as well as an experienced health professional, I passionately believe that early intervention is the key to reducing or eliminating life-long difficulties. This belief is widely supported, as the links below demonstrate. http://www.ican.org.uk/press%20office/press%20releases/graham%20allens%20early%20report%20jan%202011.aspx Feb 2011 - more updated links to follow.
